Main Street Bridge Emergency Closure Update

Main Street Bridge Emergency Closure Update

The westbound lanes of the land bridge on Main St/County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 14 between Shenandoah Blvd and Coon Creek Blvd/CSAH 18 in Coon Rapids have been closed due to the structural failure of a bridge span.

Anoka County Highway engineers, working with a consultant bridge engineer and senior bridge staff at MnDOT, have determined that the failed portion of the bridge deck will need to be removed and replaced with a new, reinforced deck panel. This work is expected to take 6-8 weeks, barring extreme winter weather conditions, meaning the westbound lanes should reopen in early April.

Public safety is our priority. Please stay off the bridge and follow the posted detour route: Hanson Blvd./CSAH 78, to Bunker Lake Blvd./CSAH 116, to Coon Creek Blvd./CR18 to Main St./CSAH 14.
