Longtime Employees Recognized

The board recognized more than two dozen employees for their years of service. Several employees were commended for 30 and 35 years of service, and the board also recognized one 40-year employee. Foley Boulevard Reconstruction Project Approved 

The board approved a joint powers agreement with the City of Coon Rapids for the reconstruction of Foley Boulevard, between East River Road and Coon Rapids Boulevard. This project, which is scheduled to start in 2021, includes reconstructing the existing 4-lane undivided Foley Boulevard to a 4-lane divided roadway with turn lanes, a multi-use trail, and an overpass at the Burlington Northern Railroad track. The project will improve public safety and reduce traffic congestion on Foley Boulevard by constructing a bridge over the BNSF railroad. To watch the video on this item, click HERE. Gifts Accepted for Human Services Programs

Seven organizations donated a total of $1,700 to Anoka County Social Services for its Campership program. The AARP and Barbara Hughes, grant representative for the Friends of Fridley Seniors, donated $300 to the Anoka County Job Training Center. The center will use these funds to purchase personal protective equipment and other products to use in common spaces where social distancing is not possible. Wireless Controllers, Access Points Purchased 

The board approved the purchase of replacement wireless controllers and access points for several county buildings. A wireless access point is a device that provides wireless network connectivity to laptops, tablets, smart phones, etc. A wireless controller is a device that provides centralized management of wireless access points. The county currently has 244 wireless access points and three wireless controllers, which are in use 24/7. All have reached the end of their life cycles of 7 to 10 years, and all need to be replaced. Several CARES Act Items Approved

The board approved six Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act items, which include the purchase of glass panels for all license center counters, flooring for tents that will be used for testing/potential vaccination, an ionization cleaning system, training for dispatchers, a signage board at Highways to help with social distancing, and nonprofit relief.
