Coon Creek Boulevard (CSAH 18) Bridge Replacement

CSAH 18 Bridge

Project Background

Anoka County, in partnership with the City of Coon Rapids and the Coon Creek Watershed District, is developing construction plans for the replacement of the structurally deficient CSAH 18 bridge over Coon Creek in Coon Rapids. The project will widen the bridge footprint to accommodate the future four traffic lanes north of bridge, along with pedestrian facilities on both sides of the bridge.

Project Goals

  • Safely accommodate all users including motor vehicles, freight, rail, transit, pedestrians, and bicyclists
  • Replace aging bridge over Coon Creek which is structurally deficient
  • Reduce impacts and avoid where appropriate the natural resources and wetlands adjacent to the highway corridor
  • Provide efficient mobility and access for all modes of travel
  • Develop a financially responsible design that minimizes right-of-way and environmental resource impacts
