Neighborhood Mini-Grant
Anoka County Public Health, in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Health and the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) grant, is pleased to announce a mini-grant opportunity for community organizations, neighborhoods and/or groups located within Anoka County. Mini-grant applications are being accepted starting January 10th, 2022 through February 28th, 2022. Organizations can apply for mini-grant funds to increase social connectedness of a neighborhood, community, group, etc. with a focus on health through physical activity, healthy eating, mental well-being, and smoke free living. Priority will be given to projects that support populations experiencing health inequities.

Examples of Previously Funded Projects
- Aeon (Parkview Villa) - Creation of a resident garden and walking club to support physical and mental well-being. Read the Aeon Parkview Villa Report here.
- Acorn Academy - Increasing physical activity for preschoolers with supplies and small outdoor equipment.
- City of St. Francis and City of Fridley - Increasing opportunities for physical activity by adding benches and wayfinding signage to parks and trails.
- Community gardens throughout the county in neighborhoods, parks, faith based communities, and youth organizations. Read the Youth First Success Story here.
- Creation of culturally-informed physical activity opportunities such as soccer, badminton, and hiking.
- Food shelf support to create increased access to fresh, healthy foods through technical assistance and the purchase of equipment such as refrigerators and freezers.
