All MnDOT Current Construction Projects can be found at: MnDOT Projects2020 Construction activities nearing completion
As we enter the winter months and construction on the I-35W North MnPASS project comes to a pause, we wanted to take a moment and thank everyone impacted by the construction activities this past year for their patience and cooperation.
What to expect this winter
Although major construction is complete for 2020, you may see crews in the project area wrapping up some final activities over the next few months. Here is what you can expect for the traffic layout this winter on I-35W between Roseville and Lino Lakes:
- All lanes open in both directions
- On northbound I-35W:
- Traffic change between Co. Rd. C and Co. Rd. D
- Motorists in far left lane will not be able to access the Co. Rd. C exit
- Traffic change between Co. Rd. C and Co. Rd. D
- Temporary narrow shoulders between Co. Rd. E2 and Co Rd. I
- Traffic direction decision point before Co. Rd. I
- Motorists should use right two lanes to access westbound Hwy 10; left two lanes to remain on northbound I-35W
The work zone speed signs will remain in effect while crews complete the work. Please continue to drive slowly and cautiously while traveling through the work zone.
What to expect in 2021
In spring 2021, we will be returning to work on the northbound I-35W driving lanes between Co. Rd. C in Roseville to Co. Rd. J in Blaine. Several northbound I-35W ramp closures are expected during the 2021 season.
With the winding down of construction activities, we will only be sending email updates out as necessary during the winter. Keep an eye out for an email update in early spring with details of 2021 construction activities and anticipated start date.

MnDOT Traffic & Road Conditions Information
Use caution and drive safely. If possible, use alternate routes. Remember, as you travel through a work zone reduce your speed, adjust your lane position away from workers, and prepare for the unexpected. Allow extra time for your trip or, if possible, use an alternate route. Projects may cause some inconvenience, but the benefits will be a safer and more efficient roadway system. Watch for road signs and articles in local newspapers to keep you informed. Your patience and cooperation is sincerely appreciated.
