Roadwork Projects Done by Other Agencies

Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT)

MnDOT Traffic & Road Conditions Information
Use caution and drive safely. If possible, use alternate routes. Remember, as you travel through a work zone reduce your speed, adjust your lane position away from workers, and prepare for the unexpected. Allow extra time for your trip or, if possible, use an alternate route. Projects may cause some inconvenience, but the benefits will be a safer and more efficient roadway system. Watch for road signs and articles in local newspapers to keep you informed. Your patience and cooperation is sincerely appreciated.

I-35W MnPASS Project

Below are links to Project Updates summarizing upcoming construction and traffic changes for the I-35W MnPASS project. Updates are posted periodically.

Rescheduled: Northbound I-35W traffic changes between Roseville and Blaine begin Sept. 11

Heads up for northbound I-35W drivers! Crews need a few more days before switching traffic on northbound I-35W between Roseville and Blaine and now expect traffic changes to begin the evening of Fri, Sept. 11.

Once the traffic changes are in place, drivers on northbound I-35W just south of Co. Rd. C will need to choose between the left lane, which is a through lane with no exits, or choose to stay in the right lanes to access local exits.

  • Drivers who want to exit to the local roads of Co. Rd. C, Co. Rd. D, Co. Rd. E2 and both eastbound and westbound I-694 will need to remain in the right two lanes.
  • Drivers who are traveling further north can use the left lane, which will not have access to local roads. This through lane will be separated by concrete barriers.

If you’re traveling through the area after Sept. 11, you’ll want to pay close attention to the traffic changes and follow the signage. Watch this video of what to expect when traveling through the construction zone after the new changes are in place.

As a reminder, crews will be putting into place similar traffic changes on northbound I-35W between New Brighton and Blaine later this fall. Stay tuned for additional details in the coming weeks.

Co. Rd. D to southbound I-35W ramp reopened

Good news! Crews completed the work on the ramp from Co. Rd. D to southbound I-35W and the ramp reopened on Fri, Sept 4.

All construction activities and closures are weather permitting and subject to change.

Road work continues to be a critical service. MnDOT is committed to protecting the health, safety and well-being of its employees, contractors and all Minnesotans. Crews continue to follow the guidance of state and federal health officials to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

95th Ave./Lovell Rd. ramp to northbound I-35W closes July 29

Crews are making progress on the north end of the project work zone and anticipate closing the ramp from 95th Ave./Lovell Rd. to northbound I-35W in Blaine. The ramp will close beginning at 5 a.m. on Wed, July 29, until mid-August. Drivers should follow the posted detour during the closure: Eastbound Lovell Rd. to northbound Lexington Ave. to northbound I-35W.

Rosegate closes July 6 through November 2020

While crews continue to work on the I-35W bridge over Rosegate in Roseville, they need to fully close Rosegate to complete the work.

Beginning 5 a.m. Monday, July 6, Rosegate under I-35W will be closed and drivers should follow the posted detour by using Cleveland Ave., Co. Rd. B2 and Long Lake Rd.

Rosegate is expected to remain closed until November 2020.

Other MnDOT Projects in Anoka County

Highway 65 Safety and Mobility Corridor Study
MnDOT, in partnership with Anoka County and the Cities of Ham Lake, Blaine and Spring Lake Park, began a far-reaching study of the Highway 65 Corridor in August 2018. The study will examine a range of cost-effective roadway alternatives to address capacity, access, mobility and safety issues between Bunker Lake Boulevard (CSAH 116) in Ham Lake and County Road 10 / Mounds View Boulevard in Spring Lake Park. Highway 47 Improvements - St. Francis
MnDOT, in partnership with Anoka County and the City of St. Francis, is making improvements to Highway 47 in the City of St. Francis. The four-lane divided highway northwest of the Twin Cities metro area has safety concerns, most notably at the intersection of Highway 47 and Pederson Drive N.W.
