As of May 4, 2020, we are only processing registration renewals through our drop boxes. We are no longer processing tab renewals in office.

 

Effective January 1, 2016, per Minnesota Statutes 2014, Section 169.798 ,Subd.4  Every owner applying for a self-propelled motor vehicle or motorcycle/moped registration, re-registration, or transfer of ownership must provide proof of insurance. Required insurance information includes the insurance company’s name, the policy number and the policy expiration date for the motor vehicle or motorcycle.

If you have your renewal slip, you will need to:

  • Put your insurance information on the renewal slip near the bottom
  • Put the entire renewal slip in an envelope
  • Make a check or money order out for the amount on your renewal slip
    • Make it out to Anoka County
    • Include your driver’s license number and phone number on the check
  • Place in a drop box
  • Your tabs will be processed in 1-3 days
  • We will mail your tabs to you after processing

If you do not have your renewal slip, you will need to:

  • Fill out the Tab Renewal Form
  • Put the completed Tab Renewal Form in an envelope
  • Call our license centers at 763-324-2100 for your vehicle tab price
  • Make a check or money order out for the amount given
    • Make it out to Anoka County
    • Include your driver’s license number and phone number on the check
  • Place in a drop box
  • Your tabs will be processed in 1-3 days
  • We will mail your tabs to you after processing

Please note:

Anoka County does not collect Wheelage Tax on vehicles kept in Anoka County. If you live in Anoka County and keep your vehicle(s) at home when not in use or have a business in Anoka County and keep your vehicle(s) at your business during non-working hours, you are not required to pay Wheelage tax. If these conditions apply and your renewal notice shows a charge for Wheelage Tax, please visit any license center, they will be able to remove this fee from your total due.
