 Orientation
Meeting Schedule
If you are an Anoka County resident and interested in becoming a licensed
family child care provider in Anoka County the first step is to attend an
orientation meeting. Attendance at the orientation meeting is required in
order to start the licensing process. The schedule for the orientation
meetings is listed below.
Please note: The Anoka County Family Child
Care Licensing Unit is responsible for licensing and monitoring family child
care homes within the county. Child Care Centers located within the county
are licensed directly by the State of Minnesota. If you have any questions
regarding Child Care Centers or how to open up a center, call the State
of Minnesota at 651-296-3971.
Orientation Meeting Dates
You must register at least one day before the scheduled meeting date.
See registration information below.
The following are evening meetings. The Anoka County Government Center
main doors are unlocked at 6:40 p.m. Registration begins at 6:45 p.m.
The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. and generally ends at about 9:00 p.m.
There will be no admittance after 7:00 p.m. Please do not bring children
because space is limited and the materials covered require your absolute
attention. We require that you attend the entire class so please plan
accordingly. The only access to the Government Center in the evening
is the main entrance at 3rd Avenue and Jackson Street.
Free parking is available on the street.
If you live in Coon Rapids and are renting an apartment, the Coon Rapids
Fire Marshal does not approve apartments for child care, so we will not
be able to license you.
There is no charge to attend the orientation class. However, there is
a $100 background study fee due at the time of application and a $50.00 inspection
fee due prior to the home inspection. There may also be a fire inspection
fee depending on where you live and the age of your home.
To register, select a date below, complete your information and click
the “submit” button, you can also register by calling the Orientation line
at (763) 422-6938. If the meeting needs to be canceled due
to inclement weather, there will be a recorded message at (763) 422-6938
by 6:00 p.m. on the scheduled day of the meeting.
