How To Obtain

Please note - Effective May 1, 2011 first-time driver's license applications will be accepted at the Columbia Heights and Coon Rapids License Centers but not at the Blaine, Ham Lake, and Ramsey License Centers.  See License Center Services for more information.

You can renew your Minnesota Driver's License or apply for a duplicate, in person, at any Anoka County License Center.

First-time driver's licenses are issued to customers who do not have a photo in the Minnesota Department of Public Safety database.

Duplicates are issued to replace a lost or stolen Driver's License, or for address/name changes. The current license must be valid for a period exceeding 90 days to receive a duplicate license. If there are changes in address or name, proper identification must be presented.

Renewals require the applicant to take a vision test and have a photo taken.  Proper identification must be presented.

Note:  Anoka County License Centers do NOT offer written or "behind-the-wheel" driver's license testing. Check the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Division of Vehicle Services Web site or call 651-296-6911 for locations, hours, services and fees.

The Driver's License application form is available in any Anoka County License Center.

Go to the Minnesota Department of Vehicle Services Web site then click on "ID Requirements" for current rules on required identification.

Required Fees

Duplicate - $13.50

Renewal - Varies by license class and endorsements

Anoka County License Centers can accept payment by cash or check.
