Pedestrian Fatal Accident in Blaine

On April 24, 2018 at 8:42pm, emergency personnel were dispatched to the intersection of University Ave and 85th Ave NE in the city of Blaine on a report of a Car vs. Pedestrian personal injury accident.  Upon arrival, police located a male in the southbound lane of University Avenue with severe injuries.  Life saving efforts were unsuccessful.  The male was identified as a 51 year old from Minneapolis.

A 73 year old male from Coon Rapids was driving a 1998 Ford Taurus southbound on University and struck the pedestrian.  This accident was witnessed by an on-duty police officer.  According to initial investigation, the pedestrian appeared to have failed to yield the right of way of the vehicle.

This accident is being investigated by the Minnesota State Patrol, Blaine Police Department, Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
