Crash in Linwood Township leaves one dead, two injured


On March 9th, 2018 at approximately 7:23 PM , Deputies from the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office responded to a head on collision in the 9400 Block of Viking Blvd. NE in Linwood township.

There were two vehicles involved in the crash, westbound driver who was the sole occupant of her vehicle and one eastbound vehicle with a driver and one passenger.

The eastbound driver was in a mini-van.  The driver, a 60-year-old male from Lindstrom, MN was dead on the scene.  His passenger, a 59-year-old female was airlifted to Regions Hospital in critical condition.

The westbound driver was in a SUV. The driver, a 34-year-old female from Linwood township, was airlifted to North Memorial in critical condition.

Early investigation tends to suggest that the 34-year-old in the SUV crossed the center line and struck the mini-van.

No parties involved will be identified at this time pending notification of family.  The accident is under the investigation of the Minnesota State Patrol and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office. There will be no further updates anticipated.
