Columbia Heights Homicide Investigation

On 4-20-2017 at 0434 hrs, the Columbia Heights Police were dispatched to 1000 41st Ave NE to a disturbance. Upon arrival, Columbia Heights Police Officers entered the apartment and found a deceased male who had succumbed to a violent death. Occupants of the apartment had fled   prior to the arrival of the Police and several were waiting for the officers to arrive and are being interviewed now.

The investigation is in its beginning stages and we are not releasing many details. The decedent in this case is a 31-year-old male whose last known address was in St. Louis Park, MN.

Police are seeking a suspect in this case who was a new, acquaintance of the occupant of the apartment.

The suspect’s full identity is not known by law enforcement but his description is as follows:

Black Male, 5 feet 10 inches tall. Chubby build: Approximately 220 pounds.  Shaved head and slight beard growth.  Goes by the nickname of “Ox.” The suspect should be considered dangerous and members of the public should not approach, but call law enforcement.

Anyone with information as to the identity or location of the suspect is asked to contact the Columbia Heights Police or the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office at (763) 427-1212.  The identity of the decedent will not be released now pending notification of family.  The case remains under the investigation of the Columbia Heights Police Department, the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigation Division.
