Violence in relationships is a public health issue. Domestic violence, sexual assault, teen dating violence, bullying and sexual harassment are forms of power-based interpersonal violence that present challenges for those who are experiencing them AND for those of us who observe them happening in our everyday lives.
Unfortunately, there is no ONE answer to how we address these issues. However, research has begun to suggest that the role of the bystander can be a way to make a profound impact. It can be a prevention antidote to violence in our communities.
This is the purpose of Green Dot.
The Green Dot Violence Prevention Strategy is a new way of thinking about and doing prevention. Green Dot is about culture change - harnessing the power of individual choices to shift our current norms.
