Information about Prepaying 2018 Anoka County Property Taxes
Regardless of the provisions of the new tax bill, Anoka County’s role is limited to the collection of property tax payments.
Please consult a tax advisor about the possible impacts of your prepayments and ability to deduct the expense on income tax forms. Taxpayers need to decide whether the payment needs to be in our office and receipted by the end of the year, or whether the payment can simply be dated and mailed by the end of the year.
2018 prepayments can only be made at the Property Records and Taxation public service counter in the Anoka County Government Center (2100 3RD AVE, Anoka, MN 55303). Anoka County is not able to accept online prepayments.
Although Anoka County License Centers can process regular tax payments, no 2018 prepayments can be accepted at these locations.
The public service counter is open Thursday, Dec. 28 and Friday, December 29 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. People in line at 4:30 p.m. will be served.
Taxpayers may prepay any amount, but only up to the amount indicated on their Proposed 2018 Property Tax Notice received in November. Anoka County will have the final 2018 tax amount on or about March 1, 2018. Current property tax law does not provide us with the information necessary to calculate the final amount earlier.
Our general policy is that once a payment or prepayment has been received and applied to a property, Anoka County will NOT refund that money unless there are some extraordinary circumstances. These requests for a refund of prepayments would need to be put in writing to be considered for a refund.
